At Wholesome Bellies we love Mexican food! To really embody this cuisine we have created two very different classes. So, if you are a Mexican foodie, we highly recommend you give both of these a try. Our Mexican classes are 100% plant-based and full of flavour. They can also be completely gluten free so just let us know in the comments when booking in so we can accommodate.
Our traditional Mexican class is exactly that. These dishes are most likely foods you haven’t tried in Brisbane, but we can promise you if you were travelling, you would find these authentic dishes and love them. Our chef is Sarina Raidi, half Venezuelan and half Mexican, her experience is vast and her recipes authentic. In this class, you will enjoy dishes Sarina had growing up in her home country. They are truly amazing recipes, so authentic and fresh!
Our Mexican Street food/Tex Mex is the cuisine you are used to enjoying in our Western society. It contains all of those popular Mexican dishes we’ve become accustomed to in Australia and also when travelling the USA. Those classic tacos, burritos, etc
You name it. It’s delicious, easy to make at home and absolute crowd pleases.
Why take a Mexican Cooking Class?
Learning to cook Mexican food is loads of fun. It’s such a great cuisine to veganise due to the abundance of vegetables and legumes. In these plant-based cooking classes you will have the chance to explore the vibrant and broad flavours of Mexican food. You’ll also gain insight into the world of Mexican cuisine and gain the cooking skills you need to whip up some yummy recipes. A class where you learn to make traditional Mexican dishes like tacos, burritos, salsa, and enchiladas is such a delight for the tastebuds.
Mexican food features so many staple vegetables and legumes most of us have at home, and spices used really add that extra punch of flavour. It’s a great opportunity to dive into a new world with new ingredients and techniques that help you create more healthy, vegetarian recipes.
How is this class suitable for?
Absolutely, both Mexican classes really do suit all experience levels. Our classes are very inclusive so if you come alone you will meet new friends. It’s also great experienced as a date night with your partner or friends.
No previous experience is needed as our qualified teachers will guide you through each recipe one step at a time, and there are loads of people in the class to help in areas you need.
These classes are suitable for anyone looking to learn some new dishes, add new flavours to their life and more plant-based foods into their diet.
You don’t have to be vegan or vegetarian to attend – we all can do with extra plants in our diet, so these classes are perfect for that.
Our minimum age to attend classes is 12 and teenagers need to be accompanied by an adult. They are unable to be at a cooking class on their own.
Our cooking classes at Wholesome Bellies are fun, lighthearted and best of all, we sit down and enjoy a meal together. We start with a brief introduction to your fellow new cooking friends, have time to grab a tea, coffee or cold drink. Then we get straight into it by grabbing our aprons and finding a spot in our kitchen.
We work in small groups, sometimes four or five and we all cook as a team, together, that way you won’t miss out on any recipes. Our classes have maximum 12 so you will really get a hands on experience.
This class will be about 2.5 to three hours long with time after the class to sit down to a feast as a group.
We are a BYO venue so please bring your favourite drop to enjoy with your meal. We will provide all glassware.
