Do you love the idea of exploring the
vibrant flavours of India without leaving Brisbane?
At Wholesome Bellies our founder, Fiona,
has a special connection to India through her family. She learned from her
mother-in-law, who was a chef at her own family Indian restaurants in
Queensland for many years. Fiona has taken authentic Indian recipes and given
them a plant-based twist.
Our Indian Cooking Classes celebrate this
rich heritage. They are packed with flavour and a variety of dishes. Whether
you're a fan of traditional Indian cooking or just getting started. We have two Indian cooking classes on offer –
Thali Class and Classic Indian.
Experience the "Thali" Tradition
One of the highlights of our Indian Cooking Classes is the “thali” tradition. In India, “thali” means a “plate.” It’s an age-old custom where a traditional meal is served with up to 10 different dishes in small bowls called “katoris.” These bowls are arranged on a larger plate known as a “thali.” It’s a feast that showcases a wide variety of flavours, textures, and ingredients – a true treat for your senses. Every dish in this class is carefully crafted to be gluten-free, making it suitable for different dietary types. We believe that everyone should have the chance to savour the wonderful flavours of Indian cuisine, and our gluten-free Thali Master Class ensures just that.

In addition to our gluten-free Thali Master Class, we also offer the Classic Indian Cooking Class. This class draws from Fiona’s family heritage and her mother-in-law’s expertise, delivering authentic and time-tested Indian recipes. It’s a showcase of rich flavours and a wide variety of dishes.

Lynn, a seasoned home cook and passionate vegan, joined our Wholesome Bellies family in 2021. Her journey into plant-based cuisine was inspired by her daughter's decision to go vegan. In her dedication to supporting this lifestyle shift, Lynn returned to University to study Nutrition and Dietetics. Lynn's commitment and passion for veganism led her to author her own book, "Nourished Vegan: Teenagers Guide," aimed at assisting families considering plant-based eating. The book is a treasure trove of wholesome recipes, practical tips, and valuable insights into plant-based nutrition.
