My mum, Rita, is my cooking inspiration. A well known chef in Brisbane in her younger years – in our family restaurant Arrivederci! – join us for this special “one off” class.

21 Nile Street, Woollongabba, 10am – 1pm

For those that know our Founder, Fiona, they’ll know how much she talks about her mum – aka “Nonna Rita”. A chef for over 30 years in their Italian restaurant, Arrivederci. Rita is a passionate, incredible chef.

At 75 years young she’s still cooking up a storm (at home) and will be offering a ‘once only’ cooking class at Wholesome Bellies with her daughter Fiona to celebrate the 1st year anniversary of Wholesome Bellies.

The recipes are very special, classic Italian recipes you won’t usually find at your local restaurant. They are dear to her heart and have been veganised for Wholesome Bellies!

OUR MENU:

  • Cauliflower, walnut and pea croquettes with vegan aioli
  • Pasta alla genovese (potato, pest and green beans)
  • Involtini di melenzane – eggplant rolls with asparagus, carrots and vegan mozarella served with a class tomato and onion sugo
  • Rocket and pear salad with candied walnuts
  • Italian farinata chickpea flat bread
  • Chocolate and vanilla classic ciambella cake

This class can be gluten-free. As a vegan establishment the use of nuts in our premises is high.  Please note that our meals may contain traces of nuts.

Tickets are not refundable, however if unable to attend you can transfer the tickets.

Please note, whilst it doesn’t happen often, if we don’t reach our minimum number of six, this class may be rescheduled or a credit note/refund will be provided.

YOUR TEACHER

Rita, a self taught chef, ran and operated her own Italian restaurants with her husband Franco for over 30 years on the Gold Coast and Brisbane – called Arrivederci.

Rita and her husband Franco, immigrated to Australia in the 1940s and here she turned her natural passion for cooking into many successful restaurants and eateries in Brisbane with her family.

Now retired, at 75, Rita is a ball of energy and her passion for cooking and feeding others runs strong! Her personality is infectious – she’ll make you laugh, smile and fall in love with Italian food (if you aren’t already).
